Hollywood Eye Institute & Aesthetic Center offers CO2 laser skin resurfacing with the Lumenis ULTRApulse® Alpha, the newest generation of one of the most trusted CO2 lasers in aesthetic medicine. Lumenis pioneered fractional CO2 resurfacing, and its UltraPulse lasers have long been considered the gold standard.
CO2 resurfacing is our most powerful option for wrinkles, sun damage, uneven texture and scarring, and many patients see a noticeable difference after just one treatment. Because our practice is built around the eyes, we bring the same precision to the delicate skin of the eyelids and under-eye area that we bring to every eye procedure. At Hollywood Eye Institute & Aesthetic Center, CO2 laser resurfacing is always performed by a licensed medical doctor.
How CO2 Laser Resurfacing Works
The CO2 laser removes damaged outer layers of skin and heats the deeper layers in a precise, controlled way. As your skin heals, it replaces the treated areas with fresh, healthy skin and builds new collagen underneath, so your results keep improving for months after treatment.
Why the ULTRApulse Alpha
Not all CO2 lasers are the same. The ULTRApulse Alpha is designed to treat more precisely and more comfortably:
- Powerful, ultra-short pulses. The laser removes tissue efficiently with very little excess heat spreading into the surrounding skin. Less excess heat means more comfort and faster healing than with lower-powered CO2 lasers.
- Treatment matched to your skin. We can treat superficially for sun spots and uneven tone, more deeply for wrinkles and acne scars, or combine both in the same session. The laser can reach up to 4 mm deep in a single pulse for thick or raised scars.
- Built for comfort. Smart scanning patterns spread the laser’s energy across the skin so heat doesn’t build up in one spot, and help the treated skin blend smoothly with the skin around it.
- Efficient full-face treatments. The Alpha Air Brush technique covers large areas quickly without compromising results.
What It Can Treat
- Fine lines and wrinkles, including crow’s feet and lines around the mouth
- Crepey, thin skin on the eyelids and under the eyes
- Sun damage, age spots and uneven skin tone
- Rough texture and enlarged pores
- Acne scars
- Surgical, injury and burn scars, where treatment can improve how the scar looks and how flexible it feels
- Mild skin laxity

CO2 Resurfacing or ResurFX?
We offer both, and the right choice depends on your goals and your schedule:
- CO2 laser resurfacing produces the most dramatic improvement, often in a single treatment, with a recovery period of about a week or more depending on depth.
- ResurFX works beneath the surface with little to no downtime. It is ideal for gradual improvement over a series of sessions.
During your consultation, we will recommend the approach that fits you best, which may include combining treatments.
What to Expect
Consultation. We start by evaluating your skin and reviewing your goals, medical history, medications, current skincare, sun exposure and any past cosmetic treatments. You may be given skincare to use before your treatment.
Treatment day. Your skin is cleansed and numbed for comfort, and your treatment is performed by a licensed medical doctor. Protective eyewear is used throughout. The laser itself takes as little as 30 minutes; plan on about 2 hours in the office, including numbing.
Recovery. Expect redness, swelling and peeling as your skin renews. Recovery depends on how deeply we treat; most patients are ready to return to their usual activities within one to two weeks. Redness can fade gradually over the following weeks. We will give you detailed aftercare instructions and see you for follow-up.
Results. Smoother, brighter skin appears as you heal, and collagen continues to build for several months, so results keep improving over time. Protecting your skin from the sun helps keep them lasting.
Your Comfort Is Our Concern
We want to ensure your highest level of comfort throughout your treatment. We offer a combination of topical numbing cream, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation (such as Valium) and local nerve blocks. We tailor the pain control for each patient, as individual needs may differ.
Is CO2 Resurfacing Right for You?
CO2 resurfacing is a good fit for adults who want more noticeable improvement than lighter treatments can provide and who can plan for some downtime. It is not recommended if you have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past 6 to 12 months or have a history of keloid scars, and may not be recommended if you are pregnant or nursing or have an active skin infection. As with any CO2 laser procedure, possible risks include changes in skin color, infection, prolonged redness, firmness of the skin and scarring. Your provider will review your skin type and history with you.
The best way to know is a personalized consultation.
Cost and Payment
CO2 laser resurfacing is a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by insurance. Your price depends on the areas treated and the depth of treatment, and we will give you a clear quote at your consultation. CareCredit and payment plans are available.
